... and some more comments about our 2001 Reunion ...

Andrew Pringle: With the benefit of a few days reflection, I am still amazed at what a tremendous event the entire organizing committee put on. Due to a family wedding, my participation in the weekend was restricted to a few hours on Friday night at Headquarters. But what a memorable few hours they turned out to be. Every face, every handshake, every hug turned back the pages of time. To those of you I had the opporunity to chat with, thanks for the memories. It felt like 20 and sometime 25 or more years melted away in a few minutes. For those I didn't talk to, I hope we get an opportunity to do catch up with each other without having to wait another 20 years. I am sure that enough of us were motivated by this reunion that we will find the time and energy to do this again for our 25th. I have heard that the organizing committee is now suffering a large, collective post party depression. Here's hoping that the thanks and congratulations of myself and so many others help to cure the hangover. Until we meet again...

Ann-Marie Chow-Carruth: Both Bob and I had a great time - chatted all the way home about friends we were able to talk to and friends missed. Even talked about when the next reunion might be and other ambitious ideas(ie golf tournament etc. - planning committee don't throw something - we would definitely help and moreso). We had a lot of fun! PLANNING COMMITTEE ET AL THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK We certainly appreciated the great opportunities!!!! We were sorry to miss the Sunday event - exhausted 'old folks' not used to partying two nights in a row. It was particulary neat to get to talk to close friends who are not so close now - PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH!

Barb Reeds-Vanry: Judy and I just wanted to say thank-you to the reunion committee for doing such an excellent job organizing all the events for the reunion weekend.  We had so much fun on Friday night and enjoyed seeing everyone again. Tim Hawkes' band was AWESOME!

Beth Webber-Galama: Mike.... thanks to you and your committee for the great events that you organized.... I had a super time.  It was great seeing old ( not so old ) friends again.  I really enjoyed talking to Darcy White... he hasn't changed a bit.  It was also great to see the old "girl" gang again..... We still got it !!!  Thanks again for all your work....  A job well done.  When is the next one ???

Brenda Packer: You and the committee did a wonderful job with all the events. I had a great time. It was overwhelming and it was difficult to get into any details in such a short time and with so many people. Email should be a great help ,now we can keep in touch with those we didn't have a chance to speak with in great length. Now you can relax. Congrats! I'm glad you found me !!!

Brian Neale: Had a wonderful time.  Even though we went all weekend it still wasn't long enough to talk to everyone as much as I would have liked.  Hopefully it won't be 20 years again.  Loved being in the mosh pit with Diggon, Greenie and Walmsley on Friday Night.  Was just like old times.  My toes survived Greenie!  I hope everyone else was as lucky.

Chris Ruland: It was just so awesome to see everyone having such a good time.  Enjoyed myself thoroughly in the mosh pit on Friday. Sorry to anyone who had the misfortune of receiving the brunt of my weight on their toes. Loved Hawkesboy, Bones, Ross the talent, Scotty, little Miss Button, John, Tom the toker, and the rest of the musicians. Most surprised by Nagy and his excellent dance moves. Wished I had a little more vim Saturday but the battery was empty. I will remember the friendships made in the organization of this event. Where would we be without; flip(pitbull),big brewer, mirror man, Mommy,  Peach, Mr. T-shirt, the Press and wif, and the rest of our remarkable crew. Claus Wagner: Wow... I had a great time, As I said to most of you that i was able to talk to. 81 was my first grad year, but the best. My wife said to me on Sunday morning I have never seen you act like that before. I told here that is the way i spent all 5 ah 6 or 7 years at AHVS. Again to all of you It was wonderful and please keep in touch. .

Dave Walker: Hello again: Thanks to all those who took the time to put together the reunion.  All of you deserve our deepest appreciation and gratitude. It was the greatest weekend I have had in a long time and was blown away by the nubmer of rememberances we all shared.  My wife commented on our way home on what a wonderful bunch of people I had in my life through school... and I agreed.  You are all a great bunch and hope to see you before another 20 years goes by.

Dave Hill: Being there was like times stood still.  Couldn't believe the turn out. Glad I could make it even for just Friday.  Kudos to you and the gang who
put it all together.

Deb Storoschuk-Stevenson: Hi Mike: Just wanted to let you know that I thought you guys did a  really terrific job of organizing this weekend. You could tell that a lot of hard work and effort had been put into the planning. I was really pleased with  the t-shirt sponsor names, well done!  Thanks again,

Debbie Button: Greetings!  What a great step back in time and a wonderful step forward in rekindling old friendships!  The distances that people travelled to attend this special event are unbelievable!  What an evening!  So many kind words and wonderful, funny memories shared.  I am so pleased to have learned that everyone is doing so well!  I wish you all continued good health and happiness!  A special thank-you to Mike Stoltz for preparing and maintaining the website.  Wow, so many, many hours you must have put in.  Tremendous dedication!   A special thank-you also to Tim Hawkes, Marty McDermott, Ross Woolridge, Mike Northcott and Lee Gotham... what a wonderful evening of fabulous music you provided us with.  I wish you all continued success!  Bye for now everyone  So great to see you all.

Debbie Schoeman-Elliott: I just wanted to thank all the organizers for the great party. I was thrilled to see alot of people, and especially when they had to see if they could still tell the difference between Ida and myself. I hope that this will enable more of us to keep in touch, a little more often. There is so much to say, but words can not describe it all. I hope this finds everyone returned home safely, and well.

Ernie ("the Brewer") Vidovic: It certainly was terrific seeing everyone.  Those memories will remain, and in time are bound to fade as they have over the past 20 years.   However, one memory which will remain with me a lifetime, are the smiles I saw on the kids' faces at the picnic.  For those of us on the various committees with children, we tend to forget the sacrifice our families have made while we persisted in bringing this reunion to fruition.  Having my kids included in my reunion festivities was the pinnacle moment of the weekend. Thanks to all of you who made this weekend possible.

Gary Hynd: Sue and I wanted to add our thanks to the organizers of this past weekend - it was a large task, involving many months of planning... so, thank you all!   We enjoyed our evening Saturday. It was fun to see people that we've known since kindergarten, as well as those that we formed close friendships with during our high school days. I think that we left Saturday night having gotten to know some of our teenage friends a little better than we did before, now that we've been able to see what has truly been important to each other through twenty years of choices (education, career, family, lifestyle)... Thanks for the surprise appearance, Melanie

Gwen Wade-Chaisson: THANKS to all of the organizers - what a great time everyone had!  Thanks also to those who attended - especially the ones that had to travel a long distance.  It was so great to see and talk to people that you haven't seen for literally twenty  years.  What amazes me is that everyone looks the same and they have the same personality they had twenty years ago!  Although it's too early to say this - how about  a 25th?  Take care everyone

Heather Gent-Best: Man, I'm sooo tired.  That was an absolute blast.  It's been years since a weekend wore me out that much.  (I'm sure Chris Ruland's liver is thinking the same thing.)  It was wonderful seeing everyone again.  I was especially overwhelmed by my Memorial School pals.  It was like grade 6 all over again.  I hope you all had as much fun as I did.  Thank you all for coming.
P.S. to my committee pals....what a lot of fun that was.  I'll miss the hilarious e-mails.
-the little pitbull

Jill Graham: All of you are the best, the absolute best.  What an amazing night Friday was.  I didn't know how much I loved all of you crazy Ancaster High people until you started filling Headquarters.  It couldn't have been better.  Bless you Timmer (Tim Wilder) for joining us at the last minute.  It wouldn't have been the same without you.  I must say, the highlight of Saturday was seeing Claus Wagner (boy, can he bust a move on the dance floor)  You haven't changed in 20 years!  How nice it was to spend time with Sandra Knot, Teresa Howarth (we really do look alike), Anne-Marie Chow and Joanne (used to hate her, now I love her) Boasman.  Thank you to all of you who put so much time, effort  and heart into this event.  We all owe you a debt of gratitude.  Please, count me in for the organizing  committee the next time.  There will be a next time!  Cheers everyone!

John Lewis: Congratulations to all of you on the Reunion Weekend.   Without a doubt, one of the most successful events that AH&VS has ever had organized.  It ranks right up there with the original '81 Grad and the party at Mike Burjaw's place!  Perhaps only  an ex-officio member of the Planning Committee could see what each of you contributed:

Mr. Stoltz, the spark for all of our efforts and constant source of good will and great ideas, you may find it hard to believe, but your website was actually secondary to the enthusiasm and excitement you brought to the project,

Chris, the burr under all our saddles.  Where would we be without your continual urging to go to the next level  - even if we were sometimes confused by what you wanted us to do?  You made us dig deep and push the effort.

Ernie, without you, there would be no attendees.  The class owes you a deep debt for speaking to all their parents and tracking down the leads.  You brought the names to life.

Brian, you stepped forward early and offered to handle the real details.   The hall, the picnic, arranging food, taking tickets.  You turned disparate ideas into reality and managed the real world.

Mr. Burjaw, your gift is a singular focus on making dreams happen.  You crafted the message to the class and brought us back on point.  You focussed on getting things done and getting it right.

Leslie, when we were stalled, you brought us back.  You charged onto the scene and suddenly found all kinds of people and contacts.   You were key to breaking a logjam and moving us beyond the initial small crowd.

Heather, the creative genius behind the parties.  The flowers!  The balloons!  Anyone walking in knew it was a party and immediately got in a festive mood.  No detail was to small and no task too large for you.

Gwen, we thought a picnic - you thought a memory.  From everything that I've read on email, your organization and running of the Sunday games exceeded all expectations.

My dear wife Michele, we often wondered about the rationality of all this.  But when I backed down you stepped up and volunteered your time, your effort and our house.  Thank-you for tracking down the wayward members of the class, but also for keeping me involved.

Ann Marie, Carla, Ian, Steve, Carolyn, Martin, Cam and let's not forget beginnings, Andrew, each brought ideas, flair and time.

Tim, what a thrill, your performance goes down in history.

In closing, my childhood best friend had the best summary of the weekend.  In Chris' words "It was the best party ever".  Thank-you.  I'm proud of each of you.  You have done well old friends.

John Short: We had a great time at the reunion!  My kids loved the games, and all the prizes.  It was nice for Nicole to meet some of my old friends (I think).  At least now she may be able to put a face to some of the stories I have (i.e., case of beer, and catching air down Fiddlers Green?)  I was amazed with the number of people who came ?home? from all over the world!  I also could not believe how responsible we all appeared to be!  The web site is great, and I would like to thank Mike for all his hard work.  Also, I would like to thank everyone who put the weekend together, my sincerest appreciation.  I anticipate that I will continue to stay in touch with some of the people who I have not seen for years.  We should make an effort to continue to keep in touch.  Same time next year??

Karen Rennick-Stoltz: On Friday night I went to a little bar in Ancaster with the hopes of rekindling a few old friendships.  I saw about a million faces.  Some I remembered..some I was embarrassed not to .. and I even met some new people.  I was jostled from conversation to conversation and stayed up way past my bedtime.  Of  course on Saturday those kids of mine still got up at 6:00am and I felt a little like a truck had run over me.  On Saturday night a far more civilized evening ensued!  I got to actually talk to so many of those friends and they could hear me.  The hall was gorgeous, the food excellent and everyone looked glamourous and handsome.  There was clearly some serious work involved in pulling this together by a lot of people.  It was amazing to see so many faces and to hear about the accomplishments of so many of our old friends.  People have gone onto raise wonderful families and live out their dreams.  There were musicians and engineers and business people and doctors and authors and  trades folk and teachers... oh so many teachers. They must have been influenced by that staff back at AHVS!  Then of course, the old music began and took us right back in time....  and It was 2:00am before I even knew it.  On Sunday those kids got up at 6:00am once again and I am wishing that they were trained to put on the coffee maker (apparently some children are!).  I am now feeling like that truck that ran over me was actually a train.... and, the kids can't wait to get to the picnic.  Sunday was clearly the most interesting day.  I played the game 'Who's Child is This".  Some of those children were very clearly from the Ancaster gene pool.... looked like they were younger versions of their parents.  The games were fantastic!  Well run and the prizes terrific. Eventually the picnic died out and all of the people went home to all the corners of the world.  I wished that we had more time and had more opportunity to talk to all of the people that I missed.   What a wonderful time!!!    Well, now it is Monday and I went to work on auto-pilot and I had to take the time to thank the organizers.  The pub, the dinner and the picnic were fantastic.  I know that a lot of hours were put into this event and it would not have happened without the organizers of this event. So Thank you from the bottom of my heart and thank you from my family.  Maybe we could have a Sunday picnic during Heritage Days each year?

Kip Brohman: It was great to see so many friends we haven't seen in so long.  We were all really glad to see Darcy White finally come out of the closet! - Do you think it had anything to do with Hawkes-boy's velvet pants?  We know that Ronan didn't pitch in much for the planning - but he sure pitched on the Bray Path after Friday night.  Is Tim Wilder in the witness protection program? What's with the disguise?  Thanks to Mark for providng the tequila party on the balcony - Karen and Kirsty were especially appreciative.  Thanks also to Mark's wife Margaret for putting up with us at the hot tub after-party! That was really fun for some - and really funny for the rest of us. (Pictures are for sale - you know who you are!) I think Darcy left some parts on the kitchen floor he was laughing so hard. (We haven't laughed so hard as we did all weekend in a long time.)  Does anyone know where to get Metcalf's videos (or are they already on the internet)?  Thanks to all of the organizers. The reunion was a lot of fun and it wouldn't have happened without all of you.

Leslie Gustin-Montgomery: What a blast from the past. I had such a good time seeing everyone again. Some of us have changed a lot and some of us not at all. I really enjoy the music that Hawkesboy provided on Friday night.   I am just recovering from my lack of sleep on the weekend but at least I didn?t have to be worried about being hung over too. The tiredness was enough. I would also like to thank my fellow committee members for all of their hard work and dedication to make this event happen.   I hope it?s not going to be another 20 years before we have another reunion. Take care everyone until next time.

Lisa Cole: Hey guys, what great fun.  Thanks very much for you hard work.  And the web page is one in a million.  Here I am at work, puffy eyes, dragging my butt, cause I was up until 2:30 am Fri and Sat night, but, it was worth it. Hopefully everyone will be blessed by this event, and have one more friend (or maybe more) to keep in touch with. I laughed until I cried, while sitting with Lisa and Gina Dee Sat night They are the most outgoing girls I've ever known, and still just a wild and crazy and grade 7 and 8.  I spoke to Leslie Gustin for a bit and that was a treat, cause we've know each other since kindergarten (great class photos at the dance Sat night).  And David Hill, wow, he never even peeped while we were growing up, but he was full time entertainment Fri night.  My big brother still owes him $2.45 (plus interest) from when David was 15.  He asked Rick to get him a six pack of Carlsberg to go to the orchard and drink with his buddy, but Rick didn't produce.  Now I've got one on Rick.

Marty McDermott: Good to see everyone in great health and Spirit! Thanks to all the planners and helpers for making it a success.  A special thanks to the Tim Hawkes Band for learning all those cool cover tunes from the 70s/80s! Don't forget to order his CD if you haven't already got It.  Hope we can all get together for a 25th!

Mary Hilton-Piggott: Hey Ho what a blast! Great to see Marty and Bob(how do you spell your name?) McDermott again.  Of course how can I leave out Lee, Scott (feed me one) Campbell, and friends from Grange School.  Thanks to the planners/organisers for a great weekend.

Mike Parker:  What a weekend...I must admit I was a little hesitant at first (trying to figure out what I'd done over the last 20 years proved to be the biggest challenge) but after reconnecting with so many old friends, I was sad to have it all end on Saturday night.  It was good to see everyone doing so well, and depsite the mutterings of a few teachers 2 decades ago, we all should be proud of the way we've turned out...hopefully we won't wait for another 20 years to pass before we hook up again.

Mike Stoltz: An incredible weekend I will not soon forget !!! I would like to express my thanks to each and everyone of you for making this reunion such a great event.  I truly believe that its overwhelming success was due to everyone's participation, willingness to share a little about themselves and of course, the special bond that brought us all together again.... friendship.

A special thanks to the hard working committee members who pulled it all together.... a great team of people who worked diligently, enthusiastically  and put in many late hours to make this all happen.  I hadn't laughed so hard as when Chris and I were chatting on the internet at quarter to midnight on the eve of April 1st waiting to launch our internet prank.... the infamous Hamilton Speculator story :-)

It's incredibly satisfying to know that we were able to bring so many old friends together from all over North America.
Phil Bruno, San Diego - Phil after all this publicity we might be able to get $10,000 for the domain name after all
Carol Page, Vancouver - Pooge !!!!
Lee Gotham, San Francisco - Lee switched the dates of his publicity book tour to be here for the reunion....
Tim Wilder, Coquitlam - Tim bought a ticket on Thursday night after his weekend business appts were cancelled
Marty McDermott, Burnaby - all the way from BC and we didn't get a chance to jam
Bobby McDermott, Minnesota - has 2 beautiful daughters now
Ray Ward, New Hampshire - extremely ry-warding
Darcy (Yabba) White, Calgary - still waiting for you to climb the roof Darcy
Sharon Cole-Lee, Edmonton - you guys were the reason this whole thing started... thanks Brian
Greg Simonoski, Tennessee - and to think I was down there last week
Jeff Collins, Nova Scotia - and to think we used to live down the street from each other
Dave Bond, Ottawa - doing the high tech thing
Pat Glinka, Ottawa - enjoyed catching up on old times in Ancaster Heights
Bill Bereza, Ottawa - another one that made the trek from our capital city
Jeff Towers, Ottawa - Jeff can I get a few tips on Nortel
Brenda Packer, Montreal - don't be a stranger
Dave Hill, New York - all the way from the Big Apple
Al Jenkins, South Carolina - I must say that the weekend weather certainly rivalled Greenville

Many thanks to the love of life, Karen, for being so supportive for this amazing adventure. Didn't get much sleep over the weekend, but I don't think I'd change a moment.  I wish you all much success in the future and look forward to more reminiscing.

Ralph Dupps: Mike, I agree an awesome event and weekend... again...thanks...and thanks...and thanks for all the hard work to everyone...I really enjoyed everyone's company...Oh yeah...when is our next reunion???   25 yrs???  Sounds good to me...same Batchannel?

Ray Ward: "Transmogrification" she whispered into my ear.  I gave my wife a knowing look, not knowing, of course, what she meant. I made a mental note to look up the word but not before I was immediately greeted (assailed) by another old classmate who again expressed surprise at my apparent overall large dimension. And so it went. In the final analysis, I was very pleased to return to Ancaster and see so many old friends and acquaintances. I was impressed by the turnout. It's a reflection, I believe, of the shared positive experience we had in High School. Well done to all ! Now........where is that dictionary?

Rick Luton: Just a note to thank you Chris [Ruland] and the reunion committee members for your work ... It was a nice evening Saturday night and GREAT to see old faces (old as in familiar, not old as in old!)

Rosemary Gardner-Lee: Just wanted to take a few moments and thank you and the committee members for a job well done. I had a great time on the weekend and know everyone I talked to did as well. You guys thought every detail out to the fullest and made it an enjoyable evening. The food Saturday was great, the music even better!!  Seeing Wazifa and Claus made the entire night!!!!!! Some things never change!  Please keep me informed of another get together and when the pictures are on the website. 'Til then, take care.  Thanks again!!!!!!!

Scotty Campbell: I would'nt have missed it for the world...but nearly did. It was amazing to see the people who populated some of the most formative years of your life. Hawkesy, Dave Edwards..Lee Gotham (who always does my heart good) Paulie Szostak...and so it goes...to all you who put it together, I owe you for one memorable night...It was more important than you know.  And by the way...didja really expect me to change?  My head looks even funkier any other way!

Sharon Latta-Patterson:  Just wanted to add my "THANKS" to the list. The organizers did a great job! Thanks for bringing so many people together again! I wished I could have been there Saturday but it was wonderful to see the "next generation" on Sunday.  Take Care! (See you in 5 years?)

Steve Walmsley:  The weekend was quite amazing and the turn out was excellent. particularly enjoyed Friday night seeing old friends from both St.Anns and AHVS. I was suprised at how easy it was to recignize most of you.  It was great to catch up on everyone and find out about family and careers.  I also enjoyed singing and dancing as if it was yesterday to all those past 70-80s hits. Diggon, Ruland, Parker and Peach reminded me of the past when they were all singing out of their beer cans though I think Chris spilled most of his on my new T-shirt. The picnic was also great seeing the huge reproduction of children from the AHVS grads. Hopefully we can do this in another 5 years. Thanks again to all the organizers, you did a great job.

Tom Roesslein:  Ahoy there! I'm sure you guys are getting inundated with mail so I will keep it brief. THANK-YOU ALL who organized and put all the time in to make it happen! Sorry I couldn't make fri, but Sat and Sun made up for it!  I had to work both nights of the party but by the looks of the crowd on Sunday I think I still got more sleep than anyone who attended! A few of us at the end on Sun suggested perhaps a casual annual reunion similar to Fri night. (but perhaps a larger place) Any takers? Thnx again!!    P.S. Lee Gotham, I'll give you a year to develope a beer belly!

Tim Wilder:  Way to go guys!!!  Please pass on my thanks and congratulations to all who helped bring the events together.  Everyone I talked to had a great time as did I.  Have a good next 10 or 20 years and I hope to see you sooner than that!

Trevor Harvey:  Hi Mike and everyone on the committee, THANK-YOU VERY MUCH!!!You guys did such a great job with organizing the events, prizes, entertainment, website etc etc etc! This was very generous of you all to give so much of your time and energy so that all of us could have such a memorable experience! Maria and I had a great time on Saturday night!"Thanks for the memories!"

Willy Vellinga: What a great time. It was wonderful to see everyone who came either Friday or Saturday. We need to do this every five instead of twenty years. To all of you thanks for turning back the clock for a night to remember old times, take care to all,
